1st July National Doctors Day:- They observed in the honored of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1st July 1882 – 1st July 1962), former West Bengal Chief Minister who was also a physician. Also honored with the Bharat Ratna in 1961. 

International 

New Zealand Banned the use of Plastic  

  • New Zealand officially banned single-use plastic shopping bags today. Under the new rules, thin plastic single-use shopping bags can no longer be supplied, but reusable carriers are allowed.
  • If the companies break the rule they have to pay penalties of 1 lakh New Zealand dollar (67000 USD ).

US President Meet North Korean Lead Kim Kim Jong Un

Demilitarized Zone:- The DMZ, runs across the Korean Peninsula, is 248 kilometers long and the 4 kilometers wide. Created as a buffer at the close of the 1950-53 Korean War, it’s jointly overseen by the American-led UN Command and North Korea.

Strum Ataka 

India signed a  deal with Russia for acquiring the anti-tank missile Strum Ataka. For Indian MI-35 airforce choppers.

  • By 2035 the world will face a shortage of health workers

National

Central Educational Institutions (Reservations in Teachers’ Cadre) Bill-2019.

  • The ensure the reservation in teaching positions in central institutions for person of SC/ST and EWS sections 
  • The bill considers college and University as Unit instead of Department or Subjects
  • The bill replace the earlier ordnance on the matter.
  • This bill came because more than 7000 vacant seats to be filled by ministry of HRD.  

Jal Shakti Abhiyan  

  • To ramp up rainwater harvesting and water conservation. This carried out by 255 central level officers (IAS & Secretary rank )
  • This campaign started in water-stressed 256 districts. Overall, 313 blocks with critical groundwater levels would be covered, along with 1,186 blocks with over-exploited groundwater and 94 blocks with low groundwater availability.
  • Block and district-level water conservation plans would be drafted, and Kisan Vigyan Kendras would hold melas to promote better crop choices and more efficient water use for irrigation.

Economy 

1st  July 2019 GST Day  

  • Celebrated 2nd anniversary. On 29th  March 2017, Goods and Service Tax Act was passed in Parliament and the Act came into effect on 1st  July 2017.

Sports

  • Indian pro boxer Vaibhav Yadav became the World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia silver welterweight champion after defeating Thailand’s Fahpetch Singmanassak in the title bout held in Pattaya, Thailand.
  • Spain claimed the Under-21 European Championship title after beating Germany 2-1 in Italy today.
  • Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Austrian Grand Prix 2019, beating Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.
  • In Squash, India won a gold today as Veer Chotrani beat compatriot Yash Fadte to win the Under-19 title at the Asian Junior Championship in Macau, China.
